Introduction

Foresight Institute of Research and Translation (FIRAT) is thrilled to announce the launch of the 5th round of the Research Cloud Scientists (RCS) Programme. Expanding beyond our successful endeavors in Nigeria, FIRAT is now reaching out to facilitate collaboration among scientists in Rwanda and Nigeria. We extend a warm invitation to passionate researchers from both nations to join hands in addressing common challenges, pooling expertise, and crafting impactful solutions.

About FIRAT-RCS Programme

FIRAT-RCS stands as a pioneering initiative dedicated to mobilizing scientists to volunteer their time and expertise to collaboratively address pressing challenges in communities in Africa. Our focus lies in interdisciplinary research, capacity building, and innovation, all aimed at generating tangible outcomes contributing to sustainable development.

Objectives of the 5th Round

1. Establish collaborative research networks between scientists in Rwanda and Nigeria
2. Identify shared challenges and prioritize areas for research and development
3. Facilitate knowledge exchange, skill transfer, and innovation to address societal needs
4. Provide training, exchanges and mentoring opportunities for students, academics and scientists
5. Foster partnerships, resource mobilization, and sustainability for long-term impact

Who Can Apply

We welcome researchers, scientists, academics, and practitioners from Rwanda and Nigeria who share fervor for research, innovation, and societal impact. Applicants preferably hold a PhD or outstanding MSc qualification, or are established scientists willing to mentor younger researchers.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit a Letter of Expression of Interest outlining their research interests, expertise, and motivation to participate. Please address:

1. Background and qualifications
2. Research interests and areas of expertise
3. Motivation for joining the RCS Programme and expectations
4. Interest in training and mentoring opportunities
5. Willingness to collaborate with scientists from Rwanda and Nigeria

Deadline

Submission deadline is June 30th, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.

Next Steps

Following the submission deadline, all expressions of interest will be reviewed by the RCS Programme Committee. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further assessment and selection.
