The Architect's Mind: Building Anything with AI
Course Overview
This course teaches the "Architect's Mind" — a mental framework for knowing what you as a human bring to the table versus what AI brings, which AI tool to use for which job, how to explore problems you know nothing about using AI, how to reuse open-source work instead of building from scratch, and how to evaluate new frameworks without fear. You will not learn to code. You will learn to direct, judge, strategize, and ship real solutions using AI as your builder. Every module includes a hands-on exercise where you build or explore something real.
What You'll Learn
Learning Outcomes
Distinguish between human value (judgment, strategy, taste, context) and AI value (syntax, speed, pattern-matching) and apply this division of labor when approaching any problem.
Select the correct AI tool for a given task using the Tool-Problem Fit framework, and brief AI tools effectively as a director, not a prompter.
Execute a research-first exploration pipeline when faced with an unfamiliar problem — using AI to research, find existing solutions, and assess feasibility before building.
Identify, evaluate, and ethically reuse open-source projects by understanding MIT, Apache 2.0, and GPL licenses, and scaffold new projects from existing code.
Build and deploy a functional real-world project (prototype, internal tool, or MVP) using AI coding tools, without writing code by hand.
Evaluate new frameworks and AI tools using a structured rubric, and adapt to the evolving AI landscape without fear or paralysis.
