Overview

The BRM Clinic at FIRAT Rwanda is a specialized consulting and capacity-building unit dedicated to providing expert support in Biostatistics, Research Design, and Methodology. The Clinic serves researchers, students, institutions, and organizations seeking tailored guidance to improve the quality, rigor, and impact of their research projects.

Our multidisciplinary team offers hands-on assistance throughout the research lifecycle—from protocol development and data analysis to interpretation and dissemination—ensuring that studies meet scientific standards and ethical requirements.

Functions and Roles

1. Research Design Consultation:

Advise on study designs suitable for various research questions, including experimental, observational, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.

2. Sample Size Calculation and Power Analysis:

Provide technical support to determine appropriate sample sizes to ensure statistical validity and reliability.

3. Data Management and Statistical Analysis:

Assist with data collection planning, cleaning, coding, and analysis using a range of statistical software and techniques.

4. Interpretation and Reporting:

Help researchers interpret results accurately and prepare comprehensive reports, manuscripts, theses, or grant proposals.

5. Training and Capacity Building:

Conduct workshops, seminars, and one-on-one training sessions on biostatistics, epidemiology, data visualization, and research methodology.

6. Quality Assurance and Peer Review:

Offer independent peer review of research protocols, statistical plans, and manuscripts to ensure methodological rigor.

  2. Group workshops on research methods, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata), and data visualization
  3. Collaborative support for grant writing and publication preparation
  4. Development of tailored methodological guidelines and SOPs

  7. Facilitating interdisciplinary research collaborations through methodological expertise
