Overview

The Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) of FIRAT Rwanda serves as the principal body responsible for providing expert advice and direction on scientific, technical, and research matters across all initiatives undertaken by the organization. The committee is made up of distinguished scientists, professionals, scholars, and practitioners from various fields whose collective expertise helps shape the institution’s research quality, integrity, and impact.

Functions and Roles

  1. Strategic Scientific Guidance: STAC provides high-level strategic advice on research priorities, scientific program development, and thematic focus areas to ensure alignment with national needs and global standards.
  2. Review and Quality Assurance: The committee offers independent review and quality assurance of FIRAT’s research protocols, publications, and scientific outputs, ensuring that they meet ethical and academic standards.
  3. Mentorship and Capacity Building: Members serve as mentors to emerging researchers, offering guidance on methodology, publication, and career development within various domains of science and innovation.
  4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: STAC fosters cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral linkages by connecting experts in academia, public health, agriculture, biotechnology, education, and data science to collaborate on complex societal challenges.
