Overview

FIRAT Academy is the academic and professional development arm of FIRAT Rwanda, designed to empower individuals across Africa with relevant, research-based, and transformative learning experiences. The Academy bridges knowledge with application by offering structured programs that prepare learners to contribute meaningfully to health, science, technology, policy, and community development.

Whether you are a student, researcher, health worker, policymaker, or development practitioner, FIRAT Academy offers you flexible learning pathways designed to meet Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities.

Functions and Roles

1. Certificate and Professional Training Programs:

Offer short courses, certifications, and advanced trainings in areas such as research methodology, clinical trials, AI and data science, pharmacovigilance, mental health, and project management.

2. Fellowships and Internships:

Provide practical learning opportunities through research fellowships, student internships, and mentoring programs that link theory with field-based experience.

3. Continuous Capacity Building:

Support lifelong learning for individuals and institutions through customized workshops, institutional strengthening programs, and academic upskilling.

4. Knowledge Translation and Policy Literacy:

Train professionals in effectively translating scientific research into policy and actionable programs at national and community levels.

5. Blended and Decentralized Learning Models:

Deliver content through in-person, virtual, and hybrid formats to ensure accessibility for learners in urban and rural settings alike.

6. Curriculum Innovation and Co-Creation:

Work with academic institutions and governments to develop and update context-relevant educational programs in science, research, and innovation.
