Call for Applications

The Foresight Institute of Research and Translation (FIRAT) is excited to announce the launch of the Graduate Technical Aids Corp (G-TAC) Programme.

This initiative is designed to provide individuals of African descent who grew up in the West, as well as interested non-Africans, the opportunity to immerse themselves in the realities of Africa. Participants will contribute to the development of local communities while experiencing cultural integration and personal growth.

Programme Objectives

  1. Cultural Integration: Experience African cultures, traditions, and daily life firsthand
  2. Skill Application: Apply your technical, educational, and social service skills in real-world contexts
  3. Community Development: Engage in projects that support local communities in various sectors
  4. Personal Growth: Foster personal development and connect with your heritage
  5. Sustainable Development: Contribute to SDGs by enhancing local capacities

Programme Components

Orientation and Training

  • Pre-Departure Training: Cultural sensitivity training, language basics, and socio-economic overview
  • On-Site Orientation: Training specific to your placement institution and community

Placement in Institutions

  • Educational Institutions: Support teaching and curriculum development
  • Technical Development: Projects requiring ICT, engineering, and healthcare expertise
  • Social Services: Community service projects including healthcare and social work
  • Other Areas: Agriculture, environmental conservation, and entrepreneurship

Mentorship and Support

  • Local Mentors: Paired with a local mentor for guidance throughout the programme
  • Peer Support Groups: Regular meetings to share experiences and provide mutual support

Community Engagement

  • Integration Activities: Participate in cultural festivals, local events, and community service
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Regular feedback sessions with community members

Evaluation and Reporting

  • Continuous Assessment: Regular monitoring and evaluation of progress
  • Final Report: Comprehensive report detailing experiences and contributions

Eligibility Criteria

  • Individuals of African descent who grew up in the West or interested non-Africans
  • Aged between 22 and 35 years
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Strong interest in community development and cultural exchange
  • Ability to secure funding for travel, accommodation, and living expenses
